Scoop: Herger Retiring and Endorses LaMalfa (Updated)

I got an inside tip today that Wally Herger, who has represented the north part of California in Congress for almost 30 years will retiring. He is endorsing Doug LaMalfa to replace him. There will be a mad dash of filers to compete for the newly vacated Congressional seat.

There will likely be some stories on the internet tomorrow.

Updated: "After a quarter century representing the north state, U.S. Rep. Wally Herger will announce tomorrow he is planning to retire at the end of his current term and state Sen. Doug LaMalfa will be running for his seat."

"LaMalfa is expected to make his announcement Tuesday morning."

The newly revised congressional District 1, which includes Butte, Shasta, Nevada, Siskiyou, Tehama, Lassen, Plumas, Modoc and Sierra counties, and parts of Placer and Glenn counties.
