Dan Logue honors the Territorial Dispatch

Earlier this week, our local "leftwing nut" blogger, Jeff Pelline, went after our popular assemblyman, Dan Logue, after Logue honored the Territorial Dispatch, a local community newspaper that is expanding its reach through the foothills.

Assemblyman Dan Logue recognized John Mistler, editor and publisher of the Territorial Dispatch, as the Small Business of the Year for the 3rd Assembly District.

"With one of the largest distributions of any North State publication, the Territorial Dispatch is a very important part of our rural news community, providing news and information services to many remote cities and towns," said Logue.

"John and his wife Kitty O'Neal have owned and operated the Territorial Dispatch headquartered in Marysville for over nine years. Since taking over they have worked to grow from a once a month paper to a weekly publication.

"With the changing role of newspapers in this computer age, the Territorial Dispatch provides local, uplifting, community oriented articles while realizing our First Amendment responsibility to be a watchdog on our government," stated John Mistler. "We pride ourselves in telling 'The Rest of the Story' and supplying political news and commentary you will not find in the mainstream media."

With the changing role of newspapers in this computer age, the Territorial Dispatch strives to deliver a free newspaper to all households in four counties. As a "good news" newspaper, the Territorial Dispatch provides local, uplifting, community oriented articles. I have enjoyed reading and writing articles for the Dispatch, and in fact when time permits, I intend to get far more involved in the community newspaper.

Both Pelline, the former Union editor, and the Chico News & Review have attempted to smear this high honor by casting it in a poor light by complaining that the owners of the Territorial Dispatch have contributed to Logue's campaigns in the past. Instead of citing the Territorial Dispatch website, Pelline quotes the very liberal/progressive "other side" yubasutter.wiki blog. The Territorial Dispatch is a testament to this wonderful community, and its reach is making the local leftwingers (like Pelline) nervous.

The Chico News & Review brings back many old memories for our local conservative activists. Yesterday, the Chico News & Review complimented Pelline on his reporting - it is not a Pulitzer, but among leftwingers it must be a high honor.  In their article, the Chico News & Review did make a little mistake though. They implied that Pelline left The Union voluntarily through retirement, but the fact of the matter is that Pelline's departure from The Union was not voluntary.

Pelline's rag and the Chico News & Review reflect very similar liberal viewpoints, but at least the Chico News & Review is not afraid of the liberal label.

In any event, congratulations to the Territorial Dispatch for its far reaching distribution and uplifting articles!  Thank you Dan Logue for being that conservative rock that we need in the California Assembly!
