Huge Night for Republicans in Nevada County

Aside from the over 6,000 ballots not being printed correctly and several electronic voting machines not working (again), the primary election was uneventful.

In Supervisor District 4, Republican Hank Weston received over 60% of the vote in a rout of his Democrat challenger.

In Supervisor District 3, Republican Dan Miller knocked off a Democrat incumbent by over seven points.

In what turned out to be the most disgusting and dishonest local campaign in recent years, Cliff Newell (who was endorsed by the Nevada County Republican Party) disposed of his dishonest challenger by double digits.

In the Superintendent of Schools race and only starting his campaign in March, Paul Haas (who was also endorsed by the Nevada County Republican Party) made an incredible showing against the incumbent.

In the race for Superior Court Judge, Republican endorsed candidates garnered over 50% of the vote in the crowded five-person race. Anna Ferguson (the Republican endorsed candidate) cruised through to November.

In the assembly race, Republican Brian Dahle received nearly 70% of the vote.

In the congressional races, both Doug LaMalfa and Tom McClintock crusied to victory with well over 50% of the vote in the crowded fields.

Considering the wide margins of the victors, and absent some huge mistake by the elections official or some type of voter fraud, the likelihood that these preliminary results will change after further counting is slim to none.

Kudos to the Nevada County Republican Party for supporting our local candidates and getting out the vote. I have to say today is a good day.

Brian Dahle for California Assembly

While his opponent is running a nasty and negative campaign, Brian Dahle is running a positive and uplifting campaign. It is refreshing to see politicians running for something.

When running against an incumbent, I understand how negative campaigning against the incumbent is important. I get it, but this election is one for an open seat without an incumbent. While these pages have detailed what Brian Dahle wants to do as our next Assemblyperson, all I can find on the internet from his opponent is negative, nasty rhetoric about Brian. I cannot find hardly anything detailing what Brian's opponent will do if elected.

Based on the conduct of the candidates during this election, we can gleen what kind of representative we will get. Brian Dahle's campaign has been positive from a positive guy who is deeply concerned about the best interests of fellow Californians. On the other hand, Brian's opponent...

We have plenty of divisive figures in politics. Where has the divisiveness and negativity gotten us? Nowhere.

Take a look at this video about Brian from three years ago. He is the same positive person now as he was then. Again, refreshing.

Conservative Republican Brian Dahle Gains Endorsement of Democrat Robert Meacher

In the race for California’s open 1st Assembly District, farmer, small business owner and Lassen County Supervisor Brian Dahle announced today an important endorsement from the only Democratic candidate on the June ballot for the 1st Assembly District: Robert Meacher. Dahle prevailed in June over Plumas County Supervisor Meacher and Redding City Councilman Rick Bosetti by a margin of 34.4% for Dahle, 28.6% for Bosetti and 25.6% for Meacher.

“I’m not in the habit of endorsing conservative Republicans,” said Meacher. “But, our need to create jobs in California is so dire, and the only candidate (other than myself) I see who truly understands the free market and small business growth is Brian Dahle. While I certainly don’t agree with him on everything, I do believe Brian will be a strong voice to get small businesses growing again, which will help all of our families.”

Robert Meacher was first elected to Plumas County Supervisor in 1992. He is also a former Chairman of the Regional Council of Rural Counties (RCRC).

Brian Dahle is a self-made business owner and third generation farmer. Elected to the Lassen County Board of Supervisors in 1996, he has been a leading voice for North State economic and agricultural development. That’s one reason why, in the recent June Primary, Brian Dahle raised impressive financial support from the District’s business community, despite his late entry into the Assembly contest. Brian’s strong fundraising totals surprised most observers and established him as one of the strongest Assembly challengers in the State.

Brian Dahle’s leadership positions include Past President of the Western Interstate Region for the National Association of Counties (NACO), Chairman of the Energy Environment Land Use Committee for NACO, Chairman of the California Housing & Finance Corporation, Chairman of the National Housing & Finance Corporation, and Past Chairman and current Board Member for the Regional Council of Rural Counties (RCRC). Today, 1st Assembly District front-runner Brian Dahle announced support from four of the five Nevada County Supervisors, including Supervisors Nate Beason, Ted Owens, Ed Scofield, and Hank Weston. They add their names to a growing list of local supporters for Dahle, including 3 of the 5 supervisors in Siskiyou County.

Brian Dahle Continues Strong Fundraising Pace in 1st Assembly District

According to recently filed FPPC reports, Dahle ended the period with a 5-to-1 margin over the challenger in available cash-on-hand; $53,762 to $10,335. These reports also show that Dahle raised $268,548 for the year, outpacing the challenger by nearly $110,000.

"Brian Dahle surprised pundits with his strong fundraising and corresponding first place finish in the June primary. Dahle topped the field with 34.2% of the vote against 28.5% for Bosetti and 25.8% for Plumas County Supervisor Robert Meacher.

Since the primary election, Robert Meacher (a Democrat Supervisor from Plumas County) has since endorsed Dahle for the runoff.

Brian Dahle is garnering support from solid conservatives and from moderate Democrats, because he knows how to make government work.

Under Dahle's leadership and in early 2012, Lassen County eliminated all of its unfunded liabilities. With a $90 million budget, eliminating all unfunded liabilities for the his county required vision and fortitude.
