"Placer’s Central Committee is running into the same criticism as the GOP central committee in our county — it is too far to the right, alienating moderate republicans. In my view, McClintock has been a catalyst in polarizing both groups because of his outspoken hard right rhetoric, documented here repeatedly.
"Some of the GOP’ers have had enough of the hard right’s hard-hitting style. 'Is Tom McClintock OK with this?' wrote Ken Campbell, a moderate who has challenged the leadership of the more politically extreme contingent, toppled in a recent election. The group will elect new leadership on Jan. 12.
The rest of Pelline's uninformed rant is here.
What Pelline glossed over that Ken Campbell also stated that McClintock did not know likely anything about the correspondence about which Campbell wrote. Campbell even went on to say, "Tom has been a personal hero of mine ever since he ran for Controller in the early 90's, and I in no way want to put Tom in a bad light."
Clearly, Pelline's omissions are designed to mislead readers as to Campbell's intent and taint the reader's impression of our Congressman.
This is yet another example of how the rhetoric from the local far-left, led by Jeff Pelline in connection with all things conservative, is increasingly unhinged and extraordinarily irrational.
Tom Hudson, Chairman of the Placer County Republican Party responded coherently and professionally to Pelline's scribblings as follows:
I like Ken Campbell and I would welcome his renewed involvement in the Placer Central Committee. He is a reliable conservative whose long-time commitment to the conservative cause has been proven over and over again, over the course of many years. He is no more or less “right wing” than the leadership of the Placer County Republican Party.
My only point here is that is that Jeff Pelline obviously knows absolutely nothing at all about the Placer County Republican Party. Calling Ken Campbell a “moderate” is proof of that. Apparently, Jeff Pelline’s source of information is Ken Campbell, who has not been actively involved either. Perhaps it would be better to show up at a meeting or campaign event before blogging about a subject that you know nothing about.
If you want to volunteer to help elect our Republican candidates in Placer County, we hope that you will get involved with the Placer County Republican Party. Our volunteers will confirm that there is no ideological test for volunteers and donors.
Ken Campbell is a solid conservative Republican. That is a fact beyond any doubt and only someone who knows nothing about Placer County politics would not know that. In addition, there is no ideological rift in the Nevada County Republican Central Committee either. The continuing unfounded allegations by Pelline are completely without basis in fact, but Pelline's leftwing followers love to hear the sophistry.
The local liberal spin never stops, but the best part of this story...the mature, seasoned, and educated response to Hudson by Pelline:
"Tom,
Go blow your smoke up somebody else’s blog, you loser. Thanks."
We expect nothing less from the former Union editor and fearless leader of the local left...
