Members of Rotary Nevada County South split eight cords of wood in three hours for the Senior Wood Project!
Mike Fondiller runs the Senior Wood Program. The demands of the Senior Wood Project continue to grow as hard economic times affect many families in Nevada County.
The program is staffed by 12 volunteers who collect wood donated by local residents and businesses, split it and season it, and deliver the firewood at no cost to needy families in the foothill communities of Grass Valley, Penn Valley, and Nevada City. High maintenance cost of existing equipment and higher demand for wood fuel created the need for the equipment acquisition.
It was a ton of fun...but my back is a little sore!
